The Band...
Like I said earlier, we are four sophomores, from holmen wisconsin. We play Metal and Rock and Roll. We are influenced by bands such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, and what-not. We play some covers from those bands, and others we could not think of at this moment of updatingness, and we write a lot of our own stuff too. At one point we were a 5 man band but our singer pulled a Dave Mustaine so we sacked him.... |

The Freaking Band...
Tyler "Poncho" Burrows
Position: Frontman; Lead Singer and Rhythm Guitar
Gear: Peavey Half Stack, Fender Guitars, Esteban Acoustics, Audix Mics, Yamaha guitar (back up)
Influences: Staind, Mudvayne, Steely Dan, Metallica,
Tyler joined the band in late 2004; making him the newest member of the band. He's probably the biggest creative force behind the music creating riffs and writing most of the lyrics. Not only that, but he juggles the tasks of singing and keeping a firm background playing guitar with the drums and bass at the same time. Without him Orion would be an instrumental threesome without structure.
William "Jesus" Haskin
Position: Lead Guitar
Gear: Traynor Amps, Fender Guitars, Boss Wah and Distortion
Influences: Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Lamb of God, System of a Down
When Will came into the band in October 2004, the problems of the band started solving. Not only did we have a guitarist that we could depend on, but we had a solid one that was actually good.. something that is ironically rare in this abundance of guitarists. He is the one that adds life to our music, and makes it interesting and worth listening to. Without him Orion would be a higher-end punk band.
Joe "Frankie" Smerud
Position: Bass Guitar
Gear: Ibanez bass, Fender Bass, Hartke Amps, Ibanez pedels
Influences: ACDC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Cars
If Joe hadn't joined the band in September 2004, there wouldn't be a band. He joined up with Bryan who had a few other friends that wanted to make a band. He is the one that fills out the sound of the band, provides a solid bassline, and keeps the song sturdy. In essence he is a drummer with strings, so naturally his best jamming buddy is Bryan. Without him Orion is as empty as Green Day.
Bryan (insert nickname here) Zannotti
Position: Drums
Gear: Pearl Sessions Drum Kit, Pearl Heads, Zildjan Symbols, Ahead and Zildjan sticks
Influences: Metallica, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Rush
Bryan was the life of the band.. he started it and is probably the most skilled member in it. He keeps a solid beat while doing great fills that keep life interesting, and really holds the band up since they can't play anything worth listening to without him. Without him Orion is an unorganized guitar solo.
The Freaking Story...
Now that you know who's in it, I guess I could tell you how we all met up. Now, we all knew each other before we made the band.. Bryan was the popular kid.. Tyler was the friendly one.. Will was the class clown.. and Joe was just kind of "there". So when we first really met up was fall 2004. Will, Bryan, and Joe had band together so they were on relatively good terms.. and once in a while we would talk to Tyler in the hallway coming out of first hour. Pretty soon, the was a band brewing about.. Taken from http://www.purevolume.com/orionwi Franks is just to lazy too type it up again.
"Yeah, it was started by a bunch of friends screwing around. Joe and Bryan are the only two members that were in the band from the start; in September 2004 Joe was invited to join a band called "Court's Appeal" with Bryan being the drummer, some dude playing guitar, and he-who-shall-not-be-named singing. Not long after, the dude was kicked out due to him contributing absolutely nothing to the band, and Will was brought in as guitarist.
That lineup staying for about two months until January 2005 when they decided to recruit Tyler as another guitarist. That was when all the problems with the band were starting to be solved, and they were now nameless.. and were considering many band names, including "Hysterical Damnation".
Eventually the singer pulled a Dave Mustaine so we sacked him. That was when we actually started making progress, and when looking for a singer, we finally decided on having Tyler sing. Finally we were getting somewhere and by April we had a name.... and that name was Orion."
There you have it, since April we practiced regularly after school in one of the band practice rooms at school, because Bryan did not yet have a drumset and we had to use the school's. Since school ended we've been practicing regularly in Tyler's basement, and using the school's drumset for about a month until Bryan got his new Pearl kit. We've been learning lots of covers and coming up with some idea for a few new songs.. and we're trying to get gigging. So, check back for updates because new things are constantly coming about.
